GD3-X2 Each original triangle of the dome
is subdivided into three triangles for a total of 225 additional struts. Our
special connecting system makes this a logical, natural and practical method
for giving superior triangulated strength to the spherical shape. The pentavalent
and hexavalent hubs become vertices for joining 10 and 12 struts at a hub.
75 hubs are also added for connecting the added struts. Recommended for domes
30 - 45 feet in diameter or larger for added structural integrity.View pictorial illustration
GD3-X3 Each triangle of the original Garden
Dome 3 is subdivided into 6 triangles. In other words 225 struts are added
to the GD3-X2 (or, 450 struts and 75 hubs to the original GD3). View pictorial illustration
Note: The original triangle faces of the dome are left intact. In other words the subdivision struts do not break the triangle face plane of the original Garden Dome 3.
You may have noticed how varieties of the three Garden Dome 3 versions may be used in one dome frame to facilitate installation of windows, door entries etc. There is flexibility in the design variables- combinations of subdivisions types, materials, etc. to suit a particular purpose and appearance.
These color enhanced illustrations are representative only to present a concept of the basic design and proportions. The subdivided Garden Dome 3 is shown without the Base Option added. Here are some paper model plans of -X2 and -X3 shown above.X - FILES
