Cube - Octa DomeTM

Based on the Cuboctahedron, which has been divided and projected onto the spherical surface. Similar to the Octa-Dome, but with more triangles, hubs and struts which suggests a good dome for sizes approximately 12 to 25 feet diameter.

Cube - Octa Dome, Type B
Three examples are shown, with top, front, right side and pictorial views colored to aid in visualization. The same dome design is turned for different orientations (A, B, C). Each gives a nice 1/2 sphere (hemisphere) dome.
First: A = 6-way connection at zenith, with a base perimeter of 12 sides

Second: B = 8-way connection at dome zenith,  8 sided base

Third: C = turned 45 degrees for another 8-way connection at the zenith,
base with 12 sides

It is similar to the Octa-Dome, but has 2 sizes of right triangles instead of 1, matched in opposite pairs.
These spherically projected polyhedra domes with only one or two sizes of triangles, that are all right triangles, are ideal for covering with triangle panels cut from standard sizes of rectangle sheet material. Working with 90 degree angles makes it much easier, with less sawing to do. And you still have a very strong geodesic dome structure.
Here is a wireframe of the semi-regular solid that this dome is named for:

The Cube-Octa Dome also has a Simplified Version with less quantities of parts and less roundness.  >> CLICK >>
