The Vertical
Modification (Type 1) makes
the 5 lower
triangles vertical. Middle 5
Connector Hubs are moved inward towards the
geometric center, making triangles smaller. There are now three
different
strut lengths instead of one, making it more complicated for the
builder,
but with the advantage of having 5 lower vertical triangles, better for
adding doors, windows, shelving and extensions. With -X1 struts a large
rectangle opening can be made, similar to the Tetra
Dome 3-HZ-X1, and vertical
sides make joining domes together possible. With a second
type of Vertical Modification (Type 2), 5 lower Connector Hubs are
moved outward; this is the preferred method.

Vertical
Modification. Both have the same footprint and floor area.
