Kruschke Dome Illustrations

based on the revised geodesic geometry of Dave Kruschke

made by Turbocad 21 in Autocad 14 format, should be viewable in any computer drawing/drafting program or CAD viewer.
3 frequency dome geometry taken from Dome Cookbook of Geodesic Geometry by David Kruschke, 1972. He was a contemporary of Buckminster Fuller and worked with him on some of his later large dome construction projects. Mr. Kruschke called us on the phone a few years ago and we talked a long time about domes and Bucky. Very cool!

As can be seen from the side profile views, both the short (“3/8”) and tall (“5/8”) domes have bottom vertices that are coplanar. That means the domes have bottom parts that will lay flat on the ground without any extra modification or alterations to the geometry (as presented in Hugh Kenner’s Geodesic Math). This makes the Kruschke dome an easier method of building the 3 frequency dome.Making the 3D wireframe into a pipe dome 3D model is a fairly easy process using Turbocad 10+ Pro (must be the Pro version). Polylines are given the fillet, then then pipe diameter is applied.

The 35 ft 2 x 6 version, illustrated with a spa / hot tub, brick cooking grill and two picnic tables.- a little more difficult to construct this 3D model.All triangles are isosceles, allowing a perpendicular bisector, designated as the X1 subdivsdion. Compare with the GD3-X1.
